Why Philosophy? | Dominican University College

Thursday, February 5, 2015 - 19:00 to 21:00
Dominican University College, Albert the Great Hall, 96 Empress Avenue. Ottawa, ON.

What's it really like to be a philosopher? Why choose to be one? Come chat with a philosopher about the secrets of the examined life over tea and coffee...and maybe cookies.

In this new series of discussions, students and amateurs of philosophy alike have the chance to sit down and informally chat with a philosopher about the parts of the philosophical life that are not always front and center: what are the stresses involved in a philosophical career and life? Is there a work-life balance? What's the salary like? Why did you get into philosophy? Who's your favourite philosopher?

The discussions will be personal and will allow the participants to ask a philosopher questions about the secrets of the examined life.

The first talk and discussion will be held on February 5th at 7:00pm at Dominican University College. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be served.

We look forward to seeing you for a relaxing and stimulating chat!
