The Protestant Reformation | Dominican University College

The Protestant Reformation

This seminar will explore the context of the Protestant Reformation and the life and work of the main reformers: Martin Luther, Huldrych Zwingli, Jean Calvin and Menno Simmons, by using both general works about the period and writings of the reformers themselves. The figure of Gasparo Contarini and the teachings of the Council of Trent will illuminate the Catholic position. Students will also prepare a study on a particular theological aspect (chosen in advance by the professor): the eucharist/Lord’s supper, the Church, ordained ministry.
